Why Duncan is a Great Place to Live
Duncan is not just the best place in the world to live; it is the best place to live for years and years to come. I know: I have lived in British Columbia most of my life, and nothing compares to this thriving, special city.
Duncan’s energy and vitality trumps any other cities in the province. Duncan has anything a family could ever ask for. Nestled in the Cowichan Valley, the community is a natural wonder with friendly, caring residents. Once you move here, you will never want to leave.
Why I Love Duncan
I have lived in British Columbia for a long time, and with good reason. As a man with expertise in real estate, advertising, sales, travel and construction and — most importantly — as a member of the community, I mean it wholeheartedly when I say Duncan is the best town in the world, and here is why.
Booming Cultural Landscape
Duncan and the Cowichan Valley have a thriving artistic and cultural scene. The visitor welcome center will tell you everything you need to know about the area’s celebrated artisans and artistry. If you are raising a family, Duncan provides the perfect environment for your children to grow, learn and progress. The schools here recognize the importance of excellence, ingenuity, hard work and collaboration.
My daughters treasure their time on school trips and in the band program. They love going to their Sea Cadets meetings at Maple Bay as well. The community knows the importance of extracurricular activities that add significant value to your children’s normal schedules.
The expanses of nature are breathtaking. Close to the coast, Duncan is a hop and a skip away from wilderness landscapes and the vast Pacific Ocean. Being so close to unspoiled nature while living in a bustling city gives me the best of both worlds.
Travel can be a hassle when you live in such a desirable location, but not in Duncan. If you have to go to Nanaimo or Victoria, the commute is a breeze. My wife makes the trip to work every day. You can also fly anywhere you want in a timely manner: Airports are only 35 and 55 minutes away. If you are looking to travel to a closer destination or have more time, take the four-lane Highway 1 to go north or south or the Old Island Highway.
Are you adventurous and looking to travel by foot? The Trans Canada Trail, one of the world’s longest networks of recreation trails with over 17,000 kilometres of trails, will surely satisfy your needs. This is a great way to get to know and love Duncan and its surrounding landscape.
Revel in the beautiful scenery and realize that you are surrounded by centuries of history. You will appreciate being able to live in such a wonderful city and still enjoy landscapes like this.
One of Duncan’s greatest attributes is its affordability. The city is the greatest to live in because of its value: You will be happy, comfortable and safe in Duncan for a great price. I am highly skilled in market research, business ethics and business management, and I have the statistics to prove the facts.
About Duncan’s Top Realtor Ian Klepsch
Originally from Regina, Ian and family have lived in Calgary, Saskatoon, Devon (outside Edmonton) and Williams Lake. They have made Duncan their home. Lured by the island lifestyle, great climate and opportunity they have not been disappointed. The area offers the best of big city shopping and amenities . The benefits of the country and ocean are always close by.
Ian and wife Rondy enjoy mountain biking, hiking and scuba diving, and have had days when at least two of all three activities were done. Where else in Canada can you do that? Most recently they were treated to enjoying the swimming holes on the Cowichan River.
Ian and Rondy spent the last 11 yrs in Williams Lake with 4 children. Dr Rondy Klepsch ran her family medicine practice and Ian owned and operated a national advertising brokerage, travel agency, steel building franchise and in 2008 made the decision to enter real estate. From Duncan, Rondy continues her contract work in town and Yellowknife, Nanaimo, Victoria and Williams Lake.
Their children have thrived in the new community with the proximity of a great elementary in Maple Bay, Navy League, field hockey and a selection of summer camps and events here in Duncan.
This has been a very good decision for the Klepsch’s and Ian feels Duncan has many things for everyone.
